Like many construction tasks, installers cannot become fully skilled in ICF construction until they actually do it. Having an experienced home roofing ICF installer assist on a crew’s first job is common. Often the local distributor who sold the forms can supply or recommend a good person.
Maintenance and repair
Insulating concrete form walls require little or no routine maintenance. They are supposed to be covered by finishes that protect them from the elements. If finishes detach or wear off in spots, they should be replaced quickly.
There are some reports of damage to the foam at ground level. This occurs most often at the building’s corners. It is possible when the wall is not well covered by a high-impact finish material. Impact from such things as lawn- mowers or foot traffic can break through a weak finish and dent or gouge the foam. The repair is simply to pull away any loose pieces, fill in the gap, and replace the finish.
