Muscle toning and dynamic range of motion oblique exercises can be performed in deep or shallow water. In general, when you are in shallow water, you want to submerge the working limb. For example, if you are doing a chest fly-styled exercise, your arms and shoulders should be under water. You can work in water of this depth. Or, you can bend your knees in a lunge position to lower your shoulders when you execute the specific movement. Deep water training requires basic swimming skills. Unless you know how to float and tread water, deep water training is not recommended. Safety always comes first. If you train in deep water, you need to wear a flotation device so that you can concentrate on your exercises and not be concerned about treading to stay afloat. Deep water provides an excellent environment to fully stretch out your limbs. Deep water is especially appropriate for people who need to avoid potential impact with others.
